OUR HISTORY

The Orlando Chapter grew out of an interest group, The Florida Association of Black Architects, led by architect Timothy Johnson. The association began in 1998 as a consortium of architectural professionals, builders and contractors with main goal networking and supporting the interests of minority businesses in the design and building industry throughout Central Florida

In September 2006, the association was granted a Charter and became known as the Orlando Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects. Since then the Chapter has grown significantly in its involvement in the Orlando community, recently hosting the 2007 NOMA National Conference and supporting various mentoring and scholarship programs throughout Florida.
